EASC Sponsors Sijo (Korean Poetry) Teacher Workshop and Student Competition
EASC will introduce Korean literature to teachers through an asynchronous Sijo Poetry Workshop and to K-12 students through an Ohio Sijo Poetry Competition. Both the workshop and the competition will be conducted completely online and end May 1, 2021.
The Sijo Teacher Workshop is open to any educator in any state and will be self-paced, and asynchronous. Teachers completing the workshop by May 1, 2021 will receive 2.0 contact hours for professional development and resource material. Registration required: Registration link. The Ohio Sijo Student Competition is open to Ohio K-12 students to learn about Sijo Poetry. Students will learn about, create and then submit an original Sijo poem online by May 1, 2021. There are two Divisions: High School and Elementary/Middle School with First Place and Second Place prizes in each division. Teachers of place winners will receive $100 of Korea-related materials.
