With support from the Center for Slavic and East European Studies, the Middle East Studies Center, and the East Asian Studies Center, Uzbek language courses are offered at The Ohio State University through the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures. Information on scholarships and financial aid for the study of the Uzbek langauge is available in our Fellowships section.
Uzbek is a Central Asian language that is spoken by 25 million Uzbeks within and outside of Uzbekistan. It is also spoken by a number of ethnic nationality groups residing in China’s western frontier, and is closely related to Uighur, a widely-spoken minority nationality language of China.
The Uzbek Language Program includes 2 levels of instruction. Questions about OSU's Uzbek language offerings can be directed to Eileen Kunkler.
