EASC Teacher Training: OPI Assessment Workshop for Japanese

OPI Participants 2018

EASC hosted the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) Assessment Workshop for Japanese from May 21-24, 2018 on The Ohio State University (OSU) campus.  Prof. Ken-ichi Miura, Franklin & Marshall College, led ten participants (max class size) from OSU, Oberlin College, University of Findlay, University of Toledo and University of Indiana during the four-day workshop which provided an introduction to the techniques of administering and rating the Oral Proficiency Interview. Participants observed and conducted live practice interviews across all proficiency levels (Novice through Superior) where they each had a chance to critique and discuss interview elicitation, structure, and rating. Thank you to the OPI Interviewee volunteers for helping make this workshop successful. Please note that participation in a Full OPI Assessment Workshop is the first step toward becoming an ACTFL Certified OPI Tester.  Funding provided in part by a U.S. Department of Education Title VI Grant to the East Asian Studies Center.
