EASC outreach by Ohio State Faculty to K-12 schools

EASC sent three faculty members to speak at Columbus Council on World Affair (CCWA’s) “Global Issues” events, which is part of CCWA’s Global Scholars Diploma program that includes 900 high school students from 17 school districts working toward global fluency as they gain skills in cross-cultural communication, global careers and global issues. Ann Marie Davis (assistant professor, University Libraries), Namiko Kunimoto (associate professor, history of art) and Max Woodworth (assistant professor, geography) shared their research on "Comfort Women" in East Asia, Japanese Art History, and urban space  in China, respectively. Ann Marie Davis spoke on Feb. 28 with 56 students and 5 teachers from Worthington and Olentangy schools, Namiko Kunimoto spoke on Feb. 12 and Feg. 21 to 172 students and 12 teachers from Big Walnut, Reynoldsburg, Granville, Global Impact STEM Academy, West Muskingum, Columbus North International School, Maryville, Delaware, Dublin schools. Max Woodworth spoke on Feb. 7 and Feb. 19 to 200 students and 15 teachers from Westerville City Schools, Gahanna Schools, Buckeye Valley High School, Mount Vernon, Licking Heights, Pickerington schools. Through the 5 presentations, the three Ohio State faculty reached 428 students and 32 teachers from 17 schools.
