Fall 2024 Sijo Competition Winners
With sponsorship from the Korea Foundation, EASC will introduce teachers and students to Korean literature through an online, asynchronous Sijo Poetry Workshop including presentations, examples, and teaching materials. New to Sijo? No problem, materials available to help students write Sijo poetry. Asynchronous Online workshop open to any teacher in any state.
Midwest Sijo Student Competition
- Deadline: October 15, 2024. Online submission link
- Sijo Introduction (slide link)
- Sijo Student Competition Website
- Open to Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania,, and West Virginia K-12 students.
- Students create an original Sijo poem in English.
- Submit one Sijo poem online by October 1, 2024.
- Two Divisions: High School and Elementary/Middle School
- Prizes: First Place ($250) and Runners Up ($150)
- Teacher of place winners will receive $100 of Korea-related materials.
- Prizes awarded at the judges' discretion.
- Winners notified early November 2024.
