Mari Kagaya Joins Center for Folklore Studies
The Center for Folklore Studies warmly welcomes Dr. Mari Kagaya as a visiting scholar, joining us until mid-March. Dr. Kagaya is Associate Professor of Folklore at Niigata University in Japan, currently on sabbatical with a fellowship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. She studies gender relations and aging in island communities in the southern region of Okinawa and is currently trying to make sense of variation in end-of-life care and death customs. While at Ohio State, Dr. Kagaya will have her office in Hagerty 455, inside the Humanities Institute suite.
