The East Asian Studies Center is thrilled to share the news that we have been selected by the Department of Education to receive Comprehensive National Resource Center and Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship grants for the 2022-2026 cycle. Through this Title VI program, EASC will receive more than $2.2 million in funding over the next four years to support our East Asian studies programs.

A Message from EASC Director Professor Mitchell Lerner: "Many people played important roles in this process, and I want to take a moment to acknowledge them. The terrific staff at the East Asian Studies Center––Dani Cooke; Janet Smith; Francesco DiMarco; and (recently departed) Amy Carey––deserve the most credit. They are the ones who, behind the scenes, have made everything that we do possible. Our three wonderful institute directors––Ying Zhang; Naomi Fukumori; and Danielle Pyun––have been an incredible source of ideas and guidance. We are all lucky to have them. Etsuyo Yuasa, my predecessor as EASC director, did far more than I did to get the Center ready for this grant proposal, and has been a reliable source of wisdom and guidance since she left. The great team at OIA has provided support and leadership in more ways than I could list. Mostly, though, I want to offer a quick word of thanks to all of you in the EASC community here at Ohio State. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a terrific group of faculty, staff, and students to serve as partners and friends as we work together on behalf of East Asian Studies. I look forward to doing so for another four years!"
