A Fireside Chat with Dr. Rush Doshi, moderated by Prof. Mitch Lerner

Rush Doshi (杜如松) is an assistant professor in the Security Studies Program in Georgetown’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. He is also the C.V. Starr senior fellow for Asia studies and director of the China Strategy Initiative at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Doshi was deputy senior director for China and Taiwan on the National Security Council (NSC) from 2021 to 2024, where he helped manage the NSC's first China directorate, wrote the Biden Administration's classified China strategy, and staffed the President and National Security Advisor for their meetings with Chinese counterparts. He also served as the NSC’s lead action officer for the negotiations that launched AUKUS. He is the author of The Long Game: China’s Grand Strategy to Displace American Order (Oxford University Press, 2021), which won the Mershon Center’s Edgar S. Furniss book award, and editor of Global China: Assessing China's Growing Role in the World (Brookings University Press, 2021).
