"Geostrategy in the Grassroots: Common Strategic Challenges for the United States and Japan"

Part of a nationwide series, this public affairs program will focus on the geostrategic challenges Japan and the US face in a changing Asia. The evening will have a discussion with former US Ambassador to Vietnam and assistant secretary of defense for Asian and Pacific security affairs, and past NAJAS Board Chair, Ambassador David Shear, as well as former Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Masafumi Ishii. The ambassadors will bring their experience gained by many years of diplomatic service virtually to Central Ohio for a discussion of the challenges being face by the US and Japan as they look forward to 2050 and beyond.Ambassador Shear and Ambassador Ishii will be participating remotely via Zoom.

Presentations by each of the speakers will be followed by a moderated panel discussion.

As in-person participation was cancelled in accordance with OSU's COVID-19-related event guidelines, the presentations and panel discussion will also be live-streamed.
