The answer is yes, and definitely so in a foreign (Japanese) language classroom. In this talk, the speaker will explain why it is now imperative to learn a foreign language to succeed in the 21st century and how you as a student can take the most advantage of it. Bio: Mr. Hideki Hara is currently serving as Director of the The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles.  Since joining the Foundation in 1991 he has held a number of positions at its offices in Tokyo and Osaka, as well as serving as Deputy Director of the Foundation’s Center for Global Partnership in New York (2001-2005). From 2006 to 2009 he was seconded to the National Graduate Research Institute for Policy Studies as Director of Research Development and International Affairs and facilitated numerous international research projects.
