New course: Environmental Issues in East Asia offered

Dr. Karen Mancl, professor of food, agricultural & biological engineering will be offering a new course in spring semester titled ASM 5786: “Environmental Issues in East Asia.” This course will be offered Tuesdays from 4-6:45 p.m. in 102 Kottman Hall. Interdisciplinary students from STEM and social science disciplines will learn about and discuss environmental issues emerging in East Asia. Pollution, endangered species, population, sustainability and a range of other environmental issues will be presented from a foundation in ecological principles. The class will focus on professional literature covering China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. With the emphasis on reading professional literature, the class is ideal for new graduate students, seniors who plan to go to graduate school, or students who are working on a senior research project or capstone design.
