Graduate School hosts Alternative Career Day

Are you interested in learning more about non-academic professional career options? Having coffee and meeting Ohio State PhD alumni who are now pursuing careers outside academia? The Graduate School will be hosting an Alternative Career Day on Thursday, November 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Ohio Union. This career day includes two main events. The first is a series of elective, topic-driven discussions where attendees can choose from the f ollowing speakers: Taylor Wallace, PhD in Food Science, “Networking to the Top: Utilizing Professional Organizations,” Cartoon 2 Room; Adriana Golumbeanu, PhD in French, “Advancing through Change: Making Job Changes Work for You," Barbie Tootle Room; David Young, PhD in History, "Making your own Way: Grant Writing, Presentations, and Bringing History to the Public," Tanya Rudner Room. Remember to register for the speaker event you would like to attend. Please note the specific room in which your speaker will be presenting.

The second event will take place November 29 from 3 – 5:00 p.m. in the US Bank Conference Theater at the Ohio Union, and will feature keynote speaker Rebecca Bryant, director of career services in the Graduate College at the University of Illinois, and PhD in musicology. Dr. Bryant will present “Career Planning in an Absence of Information.” Joining her will be a panel of Ohio State PhD alums, sharing their experiences.
