Geography offers new course on East Asia

The department of Geography will feature a new course, officially titled "4194 Group Studies in Geography: Geography of East Asia," Autumn semester 2013, Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:45 to 2:05 p.m. in 2150 Smith Lab. What makes East Asia East Asia? To answer this question, this course focuses on economic and political events of China, North/South Koreas, and Japan. This course seeks to explore the ideas and forces that have produced East Asia as a region, locate major geographic features of the region and discuss their significance, examine major changes and debates taking place in East Asia today, and investigate the specificity of each country in East Asia and their interconnectivity For additional information, view the course syllabus here.
