The Columbus International Film + Video Festival presents: Movies+Mead and Tokyo Waka, Best of Festival Winner on Saturday, November 16 from7:30 pm – 11:30 pm. TOKYO WAKA is a poem about a city, its people, and 20,000 crows. TOKYO WAKA is as much a carefully etched, lyrical portrait of Tokyo and its denizens as it is a full-fledged rendering of the surprisingly rich life of crows. It’s an evocative encapsulation of post-bubble Tokyo, when people caught in the flux of change seek their own precarious perches in an uncertain future. A. O. Scott, The New York Times describes the film as “A nimble consideration of the collision between the wildness of nature and the orderly bustle of modern urban life.” Filmmakers Kristine Samuelson and John Haptas will be there to introduce and talk about their film. It will be an exciting evening of film, the Chris Awards Ceremony (with the GCAC Individual Artist Fellowships in Media awarded) and one of Columbus’ best parties. Filmmakers from around the world will be in attendance to receive their awards and party afterwards with the event attendees. All for only $15 or 2 for $25 (free for CIF+VF members), a fantastic deal. (Don’t be late, last year was sold out.) Parking is free in CCAD lots.
