The symposium, "Locating Premodern in Korean Literature," will feature presentations of research, works of translation, and a roundtable discussion.TSOKLT is a new initiative arising among the key scholars of Korean premodern literature working in the English-speaking parts of the world. Korea’s literary history is deep-rooted and colorful, and yet English language research and pedagogy have often overlooked this rich field of inquiry in favor of more modern topics. Our purpose is to remedy the lack of organized collaboration on and representation of premodern Korean literary traditions in the English speaking academic communities. In this inaugural symposium, TSOKLT aims to awaken a methodological and pedagogical renaissance of premodern Korean literature and to promote transnational collaboration in research and translation. Symposium Schedule8:15 am–10:15 am:                 Session 1: Presentations of research10:15 am–10: 30 am:              Coffee break10:30 am–12:15 pm:               Session 2: Presentations of translation works12:15 pm–1:30 pm:                 Lunch1:30 pm–3:30 pm:                   Roundtable discussionContemporary consumption of premodern Korean LiteratureChallenges and visions of premodern Korean LiteratureCollaborative possibilities3:30 pm–4:00 pm:                   Coffee break SponsorsLiterature Translation Institute of KoreaChris Lee Korean Performance FundDepartment of East Asian Languages and LiteraturesInstitute for Korean StudiesEast Asian Studies Center Hagerty Hall 388 (1775 College Rd) East Asian Studies Center easc@osu.edu America/New_York public
