Alan was formerly the president of Edelman Asia Pacific from 2002 – 2009. He more than quadrupled the firm’s business, drove market entry into Japan, India and Indonesia, and managed the firm’s acquisition of Pegasus Communications, Edelman’s sister firm in China.  Moderator: Barbara Pratzner, President, Columbus Sister Cities International Barbara leads the organization in program development, fund-raising, strategic planning and coalition building – internationally, nationally and locally. She is also member of the Ohio Advisory Board for the US Global Leadership Coalition.     Ariana Maki, Associate Curator, University of Colorado (South Asia)In addition to field research in India, Nepal and Tibet, Ariana has been conducting ongoing research in Bhutan.   Scott Kuehn, Sales Director, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams (East Asia)Scott leads Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams wholesale efforts.  He previously managed the state's international offices at Ohio's development department, and has also worked in the private sector focused on international business development primarily in East Asia.  Shannon McAfee, Director of Public Programs, Columbus Council on World Affairs (Slavic and Eastern Europe)Shannon is responsible for planning, marketing and implementing a host of public programs, including the Signature Luncheon Series, Feature Focus Webcasts and Great Decisions discussion groups.  Sophia Payind, Analyst,  Government Accountability Office (Middle East)Sophia works for Congress as an analyst at the Government Accountability Office, an independent, nonpartisan agency that investigates how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars.  Kelly Yotebieng, Refugee Wellness Coordinator, Community Refugee and Imigration Services (Africa)Kelly has 10 years of international project management experience, leading large teams in capacity building and public health initiatives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as Costa Rica and Cameroon.  This event is sponsored by: East Asian Studies Center, Global Gateways, Fisher College of Business CIBER, Office of International Affairs, Middle East Studies Center, Center for African Studies, Center for Slavic and East European Studies, Center for Latin American Studies and Institute for Japanese Studies.
