She was awarded Andrews W. Mellon Grants twice for Object Study Workshops on Chinese porcelain and 17th-century Chinese painting respectively. Recently, she received a Smithsonian Institution Fellowship of 2019 and will conduct her research at the Freer|Sackler Galleries in DC for the next academic year. Zeyuan WuEast Asian Languages and Literatures6:00-6:25 "On Delivering Award-Winning Presentations"Zeyuan Wu is a PhD candidate in Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures. Recently at the 33rd Hayes Graduate Research Forum, her presentation, “Words, Music, and Meaning: The Debate on Qin Song in Late Imperial China,” won first place in the area of Humanities. Her dissertation investigates the cultural elites’ use of qin song as a means of self-cultivation in late imperial China. Her research on the circulation of qin songs in Edo Japan was funded by several grants, and the resulting article has been accepted for publication in the Journal of American Oriental Society. She is also recipient of a Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Doctoral Fellowship for the current academic year. Crista CorneliusEast Asian Languages and Literatures7:00-7:25 "On Publishing a Book in Graduate School"Crista Cornelius is a PhD candidate studying Chinese Language Pedagogy in DEALL. Her doctoral research focuses on training teachers and designing Chinese language programs for emerging educational markets. Other research interests include sociocultural approaches to language acquisition in study abroad contexts and Chinese language curriculum development. In 2014 she was a joint recipient of the First Prize in the "Cengage Learning Excellence and Innovation in Teaching Chinese" Award presented by the Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA). She received this award along with Chai Donglin and Mu Bing for their project entitled “Tiyan Rizhi体演日志 : Maximizing Community-based Learning in Chinese Study Abroad Contexts.” This project culminated in the publication of their co-authored book, Action! China: A Field Guide to Using Chinese in the Community by Routledge (2018). Laurene GlimoisFrench and Italian7:25-7:50 "On Excellence in Teaching and Dissertation Writing"Laurene Glimois first completed an M.A. in French linguistics in France and then taught French for 6 years before joining FRIT at OSU in 2013. In spring 2018, her teaching was honored with the university-wide Graduate Associate Teaching Award. Meanwhile, her dissertation research garnered an OSU Alumni Grant for Graduate Research and Scholarship (2017) and a Dissertation Support Grant from National Federation of Modern Language Teachers Associations (2018). Having successfully defended her dissertation in March 2019,  she will start her position as an Assistant Professor of French Linguistics in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Auburn University, AL in the fall 2019. Free and Open to the Public This event is supported by a U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant to The Ohio State University East Asian Studies Center. French and Italian
