He will also offer a briefing on economic prospects and major challenges in developing Asia where ADB is heavily involved, regional integration trends, the implications of a fast-aging Asia, the social impacts of climate change, and how technology/ artificial intelligence will affect jobs in the region.  The Asian Development Bank was conceived in the early 1960s as a financial institution that would be Asian in character and foster economic growth and cooperation in one of the poorest regions in the world. ADB assists its members, and partners, by providing loans, technical assistance, grants, and equity investments to promote social and economic development. ADB is composed of 67 members, 48 of which are from the Asia and Pacific region. https://www.adb.org/about/main Bio: Bart W. Édes has served as the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB’s) Representative in North America since October 2, 2017. In this capacity, he mobilizes financing for ADB’s developing member countries; shares development knowledge and experience; establishes and deepens partnerships with public, private and nonprofit organizations in North America; and raises public awareness of ADB in Canada and the United States. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of  Michigan, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Government (cum laude) from Georgetown University.
